The 13th APOCP Regional meeting

As the COVID 19 challenges us all and almost everywhere with no sight of ceasing the grip in coming months, The need to adapt and tailor the new reality to our plan and strategies is a must.  For this, the organizing committee of 13th APOCP Regional meeting has decided to reschedule the meeting before the year ends as an online event.  The online event substitutes the APOCP’s planned meeting that was cancelled and wishfully planned for “when the flu season is over and corona is gone”. The flu season is over but the corona is not gone. 

To address the wide range of time zones (to make sure participants from different countries can participate in a convenient time of a day), the event agenda will be broken down to several online meetings of 2 hours duration during the months of November.

Scientific Theme

There will be four main themes covering many aspect of cancer control program.

  3. Cancer and Environment 
    1. Carcinogenicity mechanism
    2. CAREX and risk estimation
    3. Carcinogens in occupational  setting
    4. Climate change and cancer burden
  4. Cancer Treatment and Management
    1. Cancer cost and social aspect of cancer
    2. Clinical trial and Advances in treatment
    3.  Cancer nursing, quality of life,
    4. Cancer cost and economic burden
    5. Social aspect of cancer

The meeting Agenda

For each theme, there will be two or three sessions (depending on the number of free oral presentations) of one and half hours duration .  The sessions will be hod in the consequent days. 

How the session will be manged

In each session, will have one keynote lecture of 20 minutes along with 8 presentation of 10 minutes duration for free papers.  The last 10 minutes of the session will be allocated to question and answer where participants can have their question addressed to presenter to answer.

Register and Participate

There are three categories of participants:

  1.  Participant who want to have a live presentation in the meeting.  These participant need to send an abstract for the meeting.  Abstract will be evaluated and decided on. Abstract accepted for oral pretension will have the chance to present live online live. Accepted abstract must be presented during the session and already have his slides prepared and sent to organizing committee for preparation. The details on how to prepare the presentation ill be sent to the applicant later.

  1. Participant that will present offline (a kind of poster presentation). Abstract that have been accepted as poster presentation, must be prepared a  PDF file (content wise the same as regular abstract but size-wise like regular PDF file). Author can add voice or video to the file if he or she desire to.

  1. Participant who just want to participate with no presentation. This category of participant must register with meeting participate.  There is no registration fee for participation.  Each session is limited to 100 participants.  Due to technical limitation, the first come first serve strategy will be apply. The fist comer those who register fir the meeting earlier.

Young Investigator Awards

In order to encourages young investigators to present their research, there will be four award of 500 US dollars to be given to four young scientist with the best presentation in the four category of the scientific theme. A panel of experts who constitute the prize committee will decide on selecting the candidate for the prize. The candidate will be selected from those who present their research either live or offline. The decision about the candidate will be announced at the end of the last session of the scientific theme.
